Precinct Caucuses 2012: Tuesday, Feb. 7, at 7:00 p.m.

Attending precinct caucuses is the first step in becoming involved with the political party process for the 2012 election season. At precinct caucuses, delegates will be chosen to attend future conventions, where the party will make endorsements for public offices (e.g. state legislature) and leadership positions within the party. To find your precicnt caucus location, click here.

If you cannot attend your precinct caucus, but wish to become a delegate to the state senate district convention on April 14 at Patrick Henry High School (where the party will choose candidates to endorse for public office and choose candidates to elect to party positions), you must sign and complete a Letter Nomination Form (check the "Organizing Unit Convention" box). There are two ways to submit your letter to ensure that you will be considered for nomination to the next convention.

  • 1. HAND DELIVER LETTER TO CAUCUS  Arrange to have your completed letter hand delivered to your precinct caucus convener at your designated caucus location (listed below) on Feb. 7 at 7:00 p.m.
  • 2. SUBMIT LETTER TO SENATE DISTRICT CHAIR Submit your completed letter to Senate District 58 Chair Makeda Zulu-Gillespie by Feb. 4 at 7:00 p.m. For email, send a pdf of your signed letter to mzg1212@gmail.com. By postage, send your signed letter to UROC, Attn: Makeda Zulu-Gillespie, 2001 Plymouth Ave. N., Minneapolis, MN 55411. Letters submitted to the chair must be received by Feb. 4 at 7:00 p.m. (72 hours before the start of the caucus).

The meeting chair will make sure that those names are placed in nomination. After the inclusion of letter nominees and no more want to serve than there are delegate positions, no contest exists and a formal election need not be held; those who wish to serve will be delegates.

Hello Senate District 58 family and friends!

Welcome! Each one of us has the responsibility to educate, motivate and activate to keep up the momentum of getting more DFL friends engaged and active in the party.

This year, Senate District 58 DFL is working more closely with the Fifth Congressional District and our City units to ensure that we are reaching out to our precinct leaders, DFL family members and friends to keep them involved in DFL activities.

The Senate District 58 DFL is comprised of all volunteers and we do rely on people like you to help us carry the Party’s message to our neighbors and friends who reside in our district. Without an on-the-ground commitment from dedicated volunteers working during the campaign seasons, it would be impossible for us to achieve our goals for a better district and a better Minnesota!

If you are interested in volunteering and meeting some wonderful people consider contacting  the following committees:
